About The Photographer

Just how you remembered it.

That’s a pretty high standard to live up to, especially when we’re talking about the good times. Our mind’s eye tends to see everything through rose-colored glasses, keeping only the best elements, and filtering out the imperfections.

Tim looks to capture that mind’s eye view in his photography. Creating portraits that will withstand the test of time, and leave you with a concrete reminder of you at your very best.

His confidence in being able to make this promise for over 15 years comes from his very approach to the work- as a craftsman in the old-world skill of fine art portraiture, brought to life with a contemporary eye and tools. To this end, he brings together some of the most distinctive elements of his past professions.

Technical perfection. Lighting, film selection, perspective, styling. A near-fanatical focus on precision comes from over 20 years as a machinist tradesman. Working with precious metals and military tolerances, his work reflects the reality of that profession - if it’s not completely perfect, it’s not acceptable. “Almost” is a word you won’t hear him use often.

Inspiration. Photography is art, requiring the ability to visualize what doesn't yet exist, and bring that to life. As a Master in martial arts, Tim has an appreciation for the beauty, style and structure of the human form, expressed both unconventionally and routinely. His photography reflects the inspiration and contemplation necessary to achieve the highest level of skill as a martial artist.  Tim holds the title of Grandmaster in the art of Guided Chaos, a martial art founded by John Perkins, author of Attack Proof www.attackproof.com.  Tim also teaches private martial arts classes at his studio.

Lighting and styling for your vision, not the same setup for everyone you’ll find in many commercial studios. Your portraits should be reflective of that unique moment in time- your time- that you hope to capture, not a cookie-cutter production that plugs different people into the same scenario.

The future may some day be digital, but until then, there is a texture and character only the grain of film can capture. Tim specializes in large format photography- large negatives to provide the highest degree of detail, and custom prints on archival paper, designed to last for generations.

Please feel free to enjoy Tim’s work featured on this site. Contact information is on every page. He looks forward to hearing from you.
